Praying forward!
February 2, 2010

One week from today we will be boarding our flight from Dulles Airport to "DESTINATION: UGANDA '10" via Amsterdam. We are ready to blow this popstand for UGANDA, what what!!!

Please pray with us over PLAN B! The weather forecast looks scary so a decision will be made tomorrow for getting to the airport. Looking forward to hearing the plan as we know, our God will not be shaken!

We covet your prayers that it will be a smooth transition between here and there. There are 28 team members...that means 56 duffles filled with medicines and supplies, computers and other office equipment, construction materials, VBS and puppet materials...and our personal items...please pray over Customs!

I am learning about 'praying it forward', as I like to call it! In talking to a teacher friend of mine he said, "We wait for trouble to come and let it prey upon us. We should rather recognize trouble and pray upon it." Will you 'pray ahead' for us as we travel to Uganda on February 6th!

We have two doctors going with us this year...PRAISE...and we heard on Thursday that the clinics have all been set up and they are ready for us to come! Will you please 'pray forward'for Dr. Masloff and Dr. Cramer as they lead the medical team. Both men are seasoned medical missionaries to Uganda and are excited to fulfill Jesus' charge to treat the sick in His name!

Pastor Jackie will be leading the Evangelism Team again this year. This man has the gift...he is awesome to watch in action and we feel privileged to work alongside him! Will you 'pray forward' for Pastor Jackie. Why wait for Satan to do his work while we “pray not”. Let us form hedges and fences now!

Also, Pastor Jackie will be having a three day Pastor's Training Conference for Ugandan National Pastors at the Seminary...what an awesome opportunity he has been given to encourage and admonish our brothers there. Please 'pray forward' for each of these men that will attend the conference noting that right across the street from the Seminary sits a mosque. Why pray defensively, but rather offensively. Let's take back ground – set some dynamite charges!

Mike Cramer who is a Director for Young Life here in Virginia will be going into the high schools with our seasoned Ugandan missionary, Dustin! Please 'pray forward' for these two as they share the truth of the Gospel with thousands of students!

Alice Heatwole will be conducting a puppetry class for church pastors and leaders. She has done this in many countries and is quite talented! Satan will not be happy when he sees her bring this gift to Uganda...will you please 'pray forward' for Alice.

Our mighty construction team has some seasoned missionaries as well as newbies. Will you please 'pray forward' for Dennis and the construction team. They will be doing some work at the Seminary in Jinja, as well as in different village schools and churches. They will also be traveling to Eldoret, Kenya, to look at a future project in Pastor Anthony's village.

And last, will you please pray for me as I bring the Gospel message to the children as we travel to a different village each day! We have been busy making SALVATION bracelets and do I have a story to tell! I will also be working with the women in the villages each afternoon. As many of you know, this has become a passion for me. I am not sure how God will use me in the future but for now, I want to love them like Jesus!

You know our blog would not be complete if I didn't leave you with a song! My favorite CD right now is Casting Crown's latest, UNTIL THE WHOLE WORLD HEARS. If you haven't heard it, it is a must. The title song says, " Lord, I want to feel your heart and see the world through your eyes. I want to be your hands and feet. And I pray that they will see more of you and less of me. Lord, I want my life to be the song you sing....I'll sing until the whole world hears!"

But that isn't the only song that I want to share with you this morning. Many of you know that I did missions work with "Food for the Hungry" in the early 80s in both Somalia and Thailand. In '09 Leeland and Brandon Heath spent a week in Cambodia with "Food for the Hungry" and after their time there they wrote this song. I cried the first time I heard this song, it is so my heart today. When I watched the video I went back in time to when I was in Thailand and God was beginning His work in me.

I was reminded, and I thank God that several decades later, God is not finished with me. He is renewing that vision in my heart, and blessing us with this opportunity to minister among the least of His. If you have time, I would encourage you to watch the video and read the lyrics. I know you too will be encouraged to continue to FOLLOW HIM and be His hands and feet in His world around you!

We can't thank you enough, each of you that have prayed for us, given financially, bought soccer balls and candy, made Salvation bracelets, loved on us in so many different ways, so I am asking Him to bless you exceedingly, abundantly above, just as He has promised to do!

We love you!

FOLLOW YOU
Leeland and Brandon Heath

You lived among the least of these
The weary and the weak
And it would be a tragedy for me to turn away.

All my needs you have supplied.
When I was dead you gave me life.
How could I not give it away so freely?

And I`ll follow you into the homes that are broken.
Follow you into the world.
Meet the needs for the poor and the needy, God.
Follow you into the world.

Use my hands use my feet
To make your kingdom come
Through the corners of the earth
Until your work is done
`cause faith without works is dead
And on the cross your blood was shed
So how could I not give it away so freely?

And I`ll follow you into the homes that are broken.
Follow you into the world.
Meet the needs for the poor and the needy, God.
Follow you into the world.

I give all myself to you.

Follow You-Video

Uganda Mission Team 2010... I consider it such a joy and priviledge to pray for each of you daily in the final preparations and the journey ahead as you go forth in obedience to that which God has placed on your heart. I have almost memorized each of your names and hold them close to me as I ask for God to show me how to pray for each of you and the gift He has given you to share. I am so excited for the opportunity to hear from those of you who will be sharing your heart and what God is doing through your love, care and efforts on this trip through this blog. I have been blessed beyond words at all God has taught me through this team's preparations and the countless hearts involved in making all this happen. My eyes have been opened to see a mighty God do extraordinary things through a willing team who said "Yes". Father, God today I thank you for this precious team who love you and are going forth as you called to share your love with a broken people, some who have come to know you from past trips and many more who need to know, surrender, feel an sense your prescence in their lives. It is there that "Hope" will renew their spirits and cause a leap in their steps. Lord, we thank you and praise you for the open doors ahead. Amen. Hugs in Him... Debbie

Thanks for being willing to share your journey with the rest of us, Terri. Even though I'll be on the same trip, our experiences and how God uses us will be different. I'm looking forward to reading what God speaks to your heart.
